About urgent care

Urgent care clinics see people with non-life-threatening illnesses and conditions. They're usually faster than seeing your primary care doctor, and they cost less and offer shorter wait times than an emergency room. You can even check estimated wait times before you go.

Find urgent care near you

At Southwest Medical, we take urgent care to new levels. We know that medical care can’t always wait. So, when you need quick care in Las Vegas, it's good to know that Southwest Medical Urgent Care offers:

  • 5 convenient locations
  • Longer hours
  • Open 7 days a week and most holidays (hours may vary)
  • A 24-hour urgent care location
  • Paperless electronic records of your visit
  • The latest in digital imaging (X-rays done by computer)
  • Lab results to you in 15 minutes or less

Also, our Urgent Care at Rancho Healthcare Center has a 23-hour observation unit. If we can treat your problem within 23 hours, there's no need to go to the emergency room for more treatment.

Important: If you need care fast for an illness or injury that is not life threatening, go to one of our open Urgent Care locations. If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

FAQ

  • Urgent care centers are medical facilities that see patients with non-life-threatening medical conditions. In the past, these types of conditions were only treated at hospitals.

Urgent care centers are equipped to properly diagnose and care for urgent care needs. They offer:

    • Intravenous (IV) medications and fluids
    • Antibiotics
    • Abroad range of lab and radiology services

Benefits of using urgent care include fast service, lower costs and avoiding long emergency room wait times. We also stay in close contact with your Optum primary care provider to keep them up to date on your health care needs.

    • Our other locations are open 7 days a week, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. They have an alternating schedule for holidays, and hours may be shorter. Please see the latest holiday schedule for information.

  • Yes, Urgent Care at Rancho Healthcare Center is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year:

    888 S. Rancho Drive
    Las Vegas, NV 89106
    1-702-877-5199

We also offer NowClinic, a virtual visit option available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It lets patients with non-emergency health conditions have a video chat with a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner on a computer or mobile device.

  • Check with your health plan for details and copay amounts. We bill urgent care visits as an office visit, not ER care. Walk-in clinic care tends to cost patients less than an ER visit.

    OR
  • You will see a doctor, nurse practitioner or a physician assistant. All are highly skilled and knowledgeable. And all are dedicated to helping patients live healthier lives and making the health care system work better for everyone.

    OR
  • We want to help keep our patients and caregivers healthy and safe. Here are our current guidelines for when visitors can attend appointments with patients at our clinics:

    • Two parents or guardians may visit the clinic with a patient under age 18.
    • One adult and one caregiver may visit the clinic with an adult patient.
    • 2 adults or caregivers may visit with a patient who has issues with learning, special needs or physical limitations and needs help going to visits.
    • One sibling of a patient under age 18 may visit along with a parent or guardian.
    • Anyone with a fever, cough or breathing problem cannot attend the visit.
    • You may bring an interpreter with you.

If you have visitors who don’t meet these guidelines, they will need to wait outside the clinic. Thank you for your understanding.

    OR
  • We continue to push the boundaries of traditional medical care to find new ways to better serve our patients. These include:

    • A close observation unit — This is for patients that we expect to send home after 23 hours (or less) of observation and treatment. Care may include IV antibiotics, fluids, laboratory draws, patient education or other guidance.
    • PICC line placement — This service is for patients who need long-term IV access.
    • Chemotherapy pump discontinuation — A simple process available only to Optum oncology patients to help them save time, money and the need to go to an ER.
    • Diuretic therapy for patients with heart failure

We also know that people have busy schedules and limited time to invest in their health. Because of this, our urgent care system shares your health information with your Optum primary care doctor right away through our EMR system.
