Hospice care volunteers change lives
Whether you're a student, a veteran or someone who simply wants to make a difference in others' lives, think about becoming a Hospice Hero volunteer. It's a chance to help a patient and their family during the end stage of a serious illness.
Our Hospice Hero volunteers:
- Provide companionship
- Support caregivers
- Share stories, memories or hobbies
- Run errands
- Write letters or answer email
- Plan events or celebrations
- Sit at the bedside of someone who is actively dying
- Support grieving families and friends after their loved one dies
Become a hospice volunteer and make a difference
We know deciding to volunteer can be a big step. It doesn't matter what your talents are or if you're younger or older, your time can make a difference to someone during a difficult time. If you want to help, we have a role for you.
How to become a Hospice Hero volunteer
If you're wondering if becoming a hospice volunteer is difficult, don't worry — it’s easy. Once we know you're interested in volunteering, we'll ask you to:
- Meet with one of our friendly coordinators.
- Complete a background check, drug screening and TB test at no cost to you.
- Attend a brief orientation.
Daytime, evening, weekend and work-from-home opportunities are available. Plus, if you become a volunteer, we reimburse you for volunteer travel mileage.
