Southwest Medical’s Cardiology Department has been recognized and granted national accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL). We’re also accredited by the National Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) for our superior work in several areas of echocardiography.
Our Cardiology Department joins the ranks of higher academic institutions in providing high quality imaging services. In fact, we are the first in Nevada, and 20th in the world, to have installed the
Spectrum Dynamics D-Spect Nuclear Imaging System. This state-of-the-art machine conducts heart tests in as little as two minutes, compared to 12-20 minutes with other systems. It also improves image quality and the overall experience for our patients.
Another way Southwest Medical is at the forefront of adopting effective health care technology is TeleHealth. If you have a chronic disease such as heart failure, COPD, diabetes or hypertension, you can now play an active role in monitoring your vital signs each day. You will be given a device that tests your vital signs at home. This information is then transmitted to nurses who monitor the results and pass the information on to your doctor and health care team. In order to participate in this program, you must receive a referral from your doctor.
